Those of you who followed my fight to save our Green Belt will already know how hard I worked for the past 5 years to defeat the daft Local plan which was withdrawn by Bucks Council last year. If you elect me as your Town And Bucks Council councillor on 6th May, I will continue the fight to protect our Green Belt.
Bucks Council has now started the initial steps towards a new Local Plan. This Plan will allocate development sites across the county, for the period up to 2040.
One of the first steps Bucks Council is taking, is to carry out a "call for brownfield sites" which means they are inviting everyone to submit details of previously developed sites which have potential to be re-developed. These sites don't need to be currently vacant. This is important because the more "previously developed" land that is brought forward, the less pressure there will be to develop greenfield sites. You can read more about the process here: https://www.buckinghamshire.gov.uk/news/call-for-brownfield-sites-in-buckinghamshire/
The call for sites runs until 5pm on 22nd March 2021 and to submit a site, you need to complete a form which can found by using this link: https://yourvoicebucks.citizenspace.com/planning/brownfield-call/.
A separate form is needed for each property. You don't need to be the owner to complete the form. For example, if you think that the Town Hall site could be redeveloped, you could submit that as an idea.
Once this consultation closes, Bucks Council will then assess the sites for suitability. This is the process they undertook during the previous Local Plan process. These plans show some of the sites which were submitted previously and include The Beacon Centre, Waitrose plus carpark, the Town Hall, Altons Carpark and Warwick Rd Carpark:
Once Bucks Council has assessed the sites submitted for consideration, the Council will prepare a map and a document called a Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment (HELAA). This document will then be used as part of the evidence base for the new Local Plan.
I will keep you posted throughout the process.
